I guess we can all agree that life never returned back to the way we knew it before the pandemic outbreak. The fear and anxiety of contracting the virus brought a kind of change that had never been experienced before in our generation. As a consequence, our way of thinking, attitudes, behaviour and mental health have radically been affected.
No one was spared from the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Everything we knew came to be compromised. Personal lives and businesses were forced to adapt to a new kind of normal, if you could call it normal.
That’s not to say that there weren’t any advantages. The world slowed down. Traffic came to a halt and amidst the silence, birds could be heard chirping from the trees. Nature started to come to life again. Families got to spend more quality time with each other. Hygiene and sanitisation took priority. Remote working was introduced, which seems to have been a success for various companies.
Sounds peaceful, yet, two and a half years later, we are left with a mess. Several businesses have gone bankrupt and closed down. Jobs have been lost leading to countless people losing their homes. We have missed out on precious time with our family and friends, time that we will never get back. And we have lost loved ones in a tragic way with a lack of closure, to mention but a few of the disruptive consequences of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, cases of depression, anxiety and social anxiety are rapidly on the rise like never before.
Anxiety and depression are mental health conditions not weaknesses and can affect all genders, race and ages. Therefore, after a lot of deliberation, our team has decided to come together to address these issues, which we will be communicating regularly with our viewers on this page throughout the coming months.
